A revolutionary tea and talk about Betsy Ross, the woman who is reputed have sewn the first American flag for George Washington, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Nickels-Sortwell House barn, 121 Main St., Wiscasset.

Tea and goodies will be provided by Sarah’s Café, Dr. Marla Miller, noted speaker, author and professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will tell the story of the historical character. Miller’s myth-busting book, “Betsy Ross and the Making of America,” tells the story of the real woman behind the beloved legend. Miller also is the author of the award-winning books “The Needle’s Eye: Women and Work in the Age of Revolution” and “Imperiled Promise: The State of History in the National Park Service,” written with three other colleagues.
