AUGUSTA — Three schools in the Augusta Public School System reported positive COVID-19 cases Wednesday.
Cony Middle and High School, Farrington Elementary School and Lillian P. Hussey Elementary School reported cases.
Superintendent James Anastasio updated the school board at its Wednesday night meeting.
“Both Cony and Hussey are impacted because a bus driver tested positive, and the bus driver was driving for two days (before testing positive),” Anastasio told the board.
Close contacts at Cony, Hussey and Farrington have been identified and are isolating, according to school officials. The school schedules will not change.
Anastasio said at least 34 individuals were considered to be close contacts.
Sylvio Gilbert Elementary School and Cony Middle and High School reported positive COVID-19 cases on Monday.
“There are good things happening, but we still have to be vigilant,” Anastasio said. “There is no way to guarantee we won’t be impacted, no matter how much we follow the guidelines. The community are usually where our cases come from.”
