DETROIT — Residents at Detroit’s annual Town Meeting on Saturday approved a $449,000 budget, up $78 from current spending.
“All articles passed. It was a very uneventful Town Meeting,” Town Clerk Kathy Walston said Monday.
Walston said 13 of the town’s 825 registered voters attended the meeting, which was consistent with previous years.
Voters approved the entire meeting warrant, including establishing a new cemetery behind the Town Hall. It is to replace the Village Cemetery in the center of town, which has about 10 graves left.
In uncontested races, incumbent Selectmen Brett Salisbury was elected to another three-year term, and incumbent Rachel Wintle was also elected to a three-year term on the School Administrative District 53 board of directors.
Changes were made to existing ordinances, including the town’s marijuana ordinance, which now includes information about where marijuana facilities are permitted, what type of facilities are allowed and the fees to establish them. Voters also approved an ordinance dealing with licensing of facilities.
Amendments were also made to the town’s fire safety and buildings and structure ordinance, aimed at ensuring life and safety codes are followed.
The meeting began at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Town Hall, with elections held the previous day, also at the Town Hall.
