FARMINGDALE — Max Byron got the Hall-Dale baseball team’s season started on a high note.
Byron threw a five-inning no-hitter, leading the Bulldogs to a 12-0 victory over Carrabec in the season opener for both teams.
Byron struck out nine on the mound for Hall-Dale. He got plenty of offense, led by Sam Sheaffer, who had a triple among three hits and three RBI. Byron helped himself with two singles and an RBI, while Drake Bickford had three hits and two RBI and Carter Bourque (RBI) and Kai Lucas had two hits each. Jackson Leach and Jeff St. Peter each had doubles.
Luke Carey went the distance on the mound for the Cobras.
LAWRENCE 15, WINSLOW 4: Jon Roy had a double among his three hits, Nate Grard drove in five runs, and the Bulldogs rolled to the victory in Winslow.
Grard also doubled for Lawrence (1-1), while Grard, Andrew Trombley and Matt Trombley each had two hits. Ben Ryder struck out eight for the Bulldogs.
Nate Newgard doubled and had two hits for the Black Raiders (1-1).
SKOWHEGAN 7, MT. BLUE 4: Tyler Annis tripled and scored three runs, and Camden Green struck out 11 while allowing three hits in five innings to lift the River Hawks to the victory in Skowhegan.
Mason Kelso had a double and drove in two runs for Skowhegan. Gage Morgan had two hits while scoring and driving in a run.
Jackson Joyce and Evan Downing had two hits apiece for the Cougars, while Aiden Decarolis drove in two runs.
WATERVILLE 19, GARDINER 9: Joe Hamelin had three doubles to lead a slugging Purple Panthers offense in a victory in Gardiner.
Hamelin had four hits and three RBI, while Liam Von Oesen (double, two singles), Brandon Bearce (triple, single) and Alex Spaulding (double, single) drove in two runs each. Sam Lloyd added a triple for Waterville (1-0), and Von Oesen picked up the win on the mound.
Noah Reed (two RBI) and Chase Kelley had two hits apiece for the Tigers (0-2).
SOFTBALL
GARDINER 4, WATERVILLE 2: Dewey Clary and Corinne Vasvary had a pair of hits each to back pitcher Lainey Cooley as the Tigers (2-0) earned the victory in Gardiner.
Clary had a triple among her hits, while Taylor Takatsu had a single. Cooley struck out 10 and allowed six hits while walking one.
Raylee Gilbert struck out 13 for the Purple Panthers (0-1) while allowing seven hits and one walk. Savannah Cormier had three hits for Waterville, including a double.
SKOWHEGAN 12, MT. BLUE 0, 6 innings: Emily Dunbar smacked two doubles and had three RBIS to lead the River Hawks to a win over the Cougars in Skowhegan.
Riley Fitzpatrick had two hits, including a double and three RBIs for Skowhegan (2-0), while Annebelle Morris and Jaycie Christopher each added two hits.
Mt. Blue falls to 0-1.
MONMOUTH 11, TELSTAR 6: Katie Laliberte had three hits while driving in two runs to lead the Mustangs (2-1) to the win in Monmouth.
Brooklyn Federico had two hits, and also struck out six in the circle. Monmouth broke open the game with a seven-run third inning.
Tasha Mason had a triple among two hits for the Rebels (1-1).
GIRLS LACROSSE
CONY 10, OXFORD HILLS 6: Sierra Clark scored six goals and had an assist to lead the Rams to a victory over the Vikings in Augusta.
Maci Freeman had a goal and an assist for Cony (2-0), while Dinah Wadleigh, Andrea Richardson and Raegan Bechard each added goals. Kiara Henry had eight draw controls for the Rams.
Molly Littlefield and Kelsey Bennett each scored two goals for Oxford Hills (0-1).
