A $6.79 million, 13-mile paving and bridge project is scheduled to start Monday on Interstate 95 in Palmyra and extend to Etna, Newport, Plymouth and Carmel, according to state Department of Transportation.

Paving, bridge and guardrail work on both the northbound and southbound sides of the interstate will be part of the project, to occur between exits 157 and 170.

Drivers should expect to see single-lane traffic between May 3 and June 25, according to a DOT news release. The project contractor, Northeast Paving, will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The release adds:

“After June 25, overnight lane closures may occur Sunday evenings through Saturday mornings until work is completed. We anticipate construction to be completed by the end of June. Over-width vehicles are prohibited from traveling between exits 157 and 159 in both the northbound and southbound lanes during construction. A detour route will be posted.”
