WATERVILLE — A 29-year-old woman was arrested early Monday on drug trafficking charges after a sheriff’s deputy discovered her damaged automobile on West River Road in Waterville.
Ashley Gleason of Auburn and Portland was arrested at about 4 a.m. on two charges of trafficking in scheduled drugs and charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and failing to make a report of an accident, because she had not reported the crash to police, according to information released by the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy came upon a 2016 Lexus that was badly damaged, had a flat tire and was covered in mud, according to officials.
Gleason told the deputy she might have hit a guardrail and was looking for a place to park her vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
An ensuing investigation led to the discovery of more than 154 grams of crystal meth and 112 grams of cocaine, according to officials. Other officers, including some from Waterville, arrived to assist in the search.
Gleason’s bail was set at $50,000 cash.
