Human remains discovered last weekend in Caribou have been identified as a man missing since June 2019, police said Tuesday.
The remains were discovered Sunday by someone walking in the woods near Route 161.
Using dental records, the office of the chief medical examiner positively identified the remains as belonging to Kurtis Madore, 31, who had been missing since June 2, 2019.
Madore was last seen leaving his girlfriend’s home in Woodland, and was reported missing several days later by his mother, state police said at the time.
The cause of Madore’s death could not be determined because of the poor condition of the remains, police said, but there was no foul play suspected.
