As part of its “Summer of Pride” celebration, the Hallowell Pride Alliance plans to host its annual pride parade at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17.
Businesses, nonprofit organizations and civic groups from around Central Maine and beyond are encouraged to contact The Hallowell Pride Alliance via its Facebook page or by email at hallowellpridefest@gmail.com to inquire about participation in the parade. Those participating in the parade are encouraged to create floats around the theme of “Express Yourself.”
In addition to the parade, the alliance is partnering to support several area businesses to bring an array of events all summer long. Their calendar of events this summer includes a pride celebration at Easy Street Lounge on Saturday, July 17; Drag Brunch at The Quarry Tap Room on July 18; Mixology classes with Leah Sampson at The Maine House on Aug. 14 and 15; an art show at The Harlow Gallery, “Art and Gender,” running from Aug. 6 through Sept. 11; and a an outdoor movie night at the bandstand on Aug. 12.
The Hallowell Pride Alliance is a group of individuals dedicated to creating an environment that promotes equality for diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. The alliance provides education, advocacy, outreach and social opportunities to the professional and personal communities in and around Hallowell. They strive to ensure that all people feel welcomed, affirmed and celebrated, especially members of the LGBTQ+ community.
