WATERVILLE — An Oakland man whose SUV crossed the center line on North Street and crashed into another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction will head to court in November to answer to charges of operating under the influence, police said Wednesday.
Paul McAlpine, 50, was arrested and charged with OUI after the collision, which was reported about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to police Sgt. Joshua Woods.
McAlpine was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that rolled over after striking the other vehicle, a 2019 Kia driven by Steven Duplessie, 57, of Waterville, Woods said.
Some of the four people in the Kia were taken to Thayer Center for Health, which is down North Street from where the collision occurred near the intersection with Pleasantdale Avenue, Woods said. Their injuries were not serious, he said.
McAlpine, who was traveling alone and was not taken to a hospital afterward, posted $500 unsecured bail and was released from the police station, according to Woods.
Woods said the officer who responded to the crash wrote in his report that the Jeep failed to keep in its proper lane.
McAlpine is scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, according to Woods.
