My name is Shelley Rudnicki and I represent Fairfield in the Maine House of Representatives.
I’m writing to let readers know that they may be eligible for the $850 checks that were recently approved by the Legislature, even if they don’t believe they are.
The Maine Legislature voted to return extra taxpayer dollars that the state collected, and I want to make sure that everyone eligible for this money gets it.
Here’s the key: In order to qualify for these checks, you have to file an income tax return — even if you didn’t have any income.
Many of our elderly folks don’t file returns, but if you do so this year, you could be eligible for the $850 checks.
I’m making it my mission to make sure everyone that’s eligible gets their money. I know folks are struggling right now, and this is one way we can help each other.
