Wiscasset Creative Alliance plans to hold its first Wiscasset Homes on Tour event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9.
The tour will feature a selection of historic locations, including an early 19th century village home once owned by a wealthy ship captain and another stately home built by a Civil War veteran, according to a news release from the alliance.
An earlier version of a Wiscasset home tour, known as Open House Day, spanned the decades from the 1920s through the 1960s. While the 1963 tour included 24 sites, the current tour offers six unique sites with pride-of-place in evidence as tour goers are invited to spend the day absorbing history, splendor and inspiration, according to the alliance.
In addition to homes, the tour includes a working artist’s studio and an 18th century building that offers a window into early taste and comfort; also on view are gardens and collections. Live music and afternoon refreshments will also be offered. The tour is self-guided, and parking is available near each site.
Homes on Tour is a fundraiser for the alliance; funds will be used to support its community programs.
Tickets cost $30 each or $25 each for groups of seven or more. They can be purchased on the day of the tour at Wiscasset’s Recreational Pier, 1 Water St. (parking and bathrooms are nearby), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Advance tickets can be purchased online and picked up on the day of the tour at the Recreational Pier.
