CORINNA — A local man died in a motorcycle crash Friday evening, police said.
Merle Page, 60, of Corinna, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Friday evening, according to a news release from Shannon Moss, spokesperson for Maine State Police.
State police responded to a two-vehicle crash just before 6:30 p.m. Friday on Route 7 in Corinna, Moss said. Early investigation by authorities found that Page was driving a motorcycle north on Route 7 when he crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic, hitting a Chevy Silverado head-on. Page was not wearing a helmet.
An unidentified man who was driving the Chevy Silverado, and the man’s 8-year-old son, were not injured in the crash, police said.
Police are still investigating the crash. Maine State Police were assisted by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Corinna Fire Department.
