I read the letter from Augusta postmaster Laura Kelly in the KJ regarding the U.S. Postal Service with concern (“Postmaster: Plan for mail delivers for Americans,” June 29). She writes, “Our post offices serve as a lifeline for our small businesses to reach customers wherever they are.” I own Millsy’s Cleaning Services on Bangor Street in Augusta and we have not received a mail delivery in eight days in a row now and still counting.

My home receives delivery six days a week without fail. Could we possibly have the carriers from my residential area cover my business’ area one or two days a week so that my area, which is about 60% commercial, can get a mail delivery once in a while?

Kelly goes on to say under the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, they are taking action on service excellence. Is eight days without mail service excellence?

My business survives on mail service. This is not acceptable. Without mail delivery, we can not get bills on time to pay before late fees apply. And with the time it takes mail to get picked up and then the turn around for delivery, which is sometimes weeks, we have received a few late fees from our vendors.

If you want a business to be messed up, let the federal government run it.
