Kennebec Land Trust plans to hold a property dedication of the Oak Hill Conservation Area at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, on the Norton Road in Fayette.
It also will be an opportunity to explore a newly-built trail, according to a news release from the Winthrop-based trust.
KLT President Janet Sawyer and Ron Hewett will provide brief comments. Attendees are encouraged to stay for refreshments and a hike on the property.
On Dec. 23, 2021, with the support of Kennebec Land Trust members and supporters, the 120-acre Oak Hill Conservation Area on the Norton Road in Fayette was purchased and permanently protected. In June, an additional 14-acre parcel on the east side of Hales Brook was added to this conservation property.
The conservation project was made possible by the Hewett family, Terry and Michele Briggs, James Dwyer, and many donors.
This summer, stewardship staff, summer interns and volunteers built a new one-mile-long loop trail on the property.
