United Way of Kennebec Valley raised $19,899 to support community programming at its 52nd annual Golf Scramble, a $4,644 increase from last year.

Twenty-seven teams competed and 32 businesses sponsored the tournament, held Aug. 1 at the Augusta Country Club in Manchester, according to a news release from the Augusta-based United Way chapter.

Proceeds from the event will support United Way’s annual fundraising campaign, which will fund 49 programs across Kennebec County.

2022 United Way Golf Scramble winners:

• 1st Gross (Tie) — Corey Vose, Matt Carter, Joe Holland and Brent Stewart, representing Performance Foodservice — NorthCenter;

• 1st Gross (Tie) — Dan Dalfonso, Adam Lynch, Heath Commeau and Daniel Benson, representing Goose River Holdings;

• 1st Net — Sue Clary, Carol Bredel, Dan Littlefield and Mark Morissette, representing Central Maine Power; and

• 2nd Net — Eric Lloyd, Chris Blodgett, Jeff Gotreau and Donald Cowles, representing the city of Augusta.

Course challenge winners:

• Air Cannon/Closest to the pin contest, sponsored by Cross Insurance — Roger Williams, representing Steve’s Family Market;

• Straightest Drive contest, sponsored by Central Maine Power — Brian Foster, representing Charlie’s Family of Dealerships; and

• Putting contest, sponsored by KV Federal Credit Union — Eric Veilleaux, representing KV Federal Credit Union.

Central Maine Power served as the event’s exclusive cart and straightest drive sponsor, and Charlie’s Family of Dealerships sponsored a hole-in-one challenge. Golfers were treated to lunch, courtesy of Charlie’s Family of Dealerships and J.S. McCarthy Printers.

The event banquet was sponsored by NRF Distributors and WIPFLi. An auction with sponsor-donated prizes raised $1,425.
