I grew up around motorcycles. My dad did enduro riding throughout my childhood. It appalled me to read recently in the KJ that Maine has had 22 motorcycle deaths this year. That’s nearly double the number my home province of Ontario has had this year, with police putting out a warning about the 12 deaths so far this summer.

Of course, there are two significant differences. With a population around 14.5 million people, compared to roughly 1 million in Maine, you would expect far more motorcyclists to die in Ontario. Unless maybe the other difference, the fact helmets are mandatory in Ontario, has something to do with it?
