SKOWHEGAN — About 1,300 people are expected to gather downtown Saturday for the sixth Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival, a popular event featuring Maine craft beer, wine, cider and spirits.
Downtown streets will be closed to vehicles during the festival and nearly 30 brewers are participating.
The day begins with a VIP hour at 2 p.m., with the general session scheduled to begin an hour later with more than 100 Maine-crafted drinks available for sampling.
A variety of food will also be available for the crowd, and live music is planned for the evening.
“The Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival has become one of the region’s most popular events, drawing people from far and wide to visit our beautiful little town on the Kennebec,” said Kristina Cannon, executive director of Main Street Skowhegan. “With recent news about nearly $7 million in grant funding awarded to Skowhegan’s future river park project, we’re even more thrilled to host this event and showcase all that we have to offer.”
The festival is organized by the nonprofit Main Street Skowhegan, with the proceeds to benefit ongoing development and revitalization efforts in town.
There are a limited number of general admission tickets still available at skowhegancraftbrewfest.com. Tickets are $45 per person, and if still available Saturday, they increase to $50.
