NORRIDGEWOCK — “Representation and How to Get It,” a new site-specific performance inspired by Julia Ward Howe, is scheduled to be presented at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the cafeteria of Mill Stream Elementary School, 23 Mercer Road.
Hosted by the library with a grant from the American Library Association for Sale and Rural Libraries, the performance challenges audiences to become politically active citizens of democracy, according to a news release from Nina Pleasants, a librarian at Norridgewock Public Library.
This play is inspired by the life and work of Howe (1819-1910), author of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” abolitionist, suffragist, inventor of Mother’s Day, Unitarian preacher, and human rights activist. It runs 45 minutes and will be followed by a discussion and a short reception.
“Representation” was written by Joyce Van Dyke and directed by Judy Braha, and features actress Elaine Vaan Hogue.
