WATERVILLE — The Beatitudes & The Eucharist: A Eucharistic Retreat is scheduled for Sunday through Wednesday, Oct. 9-12, at the chapel of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament on 101 Silver St.; all can attend.

The retreat facilitator will be Fr. John Thomas Lane — a pastor in Highland Heights, Ohio, who also is a presenter, retreat leader and liturgical consultant. He holds master’s degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the Catholic Theological Union and has served as a columnist for Emmanuel Magazine and The Messenger, according to a news release from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

The retreat will begin with an opening Mass at 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by exposition and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and an overview of the Beatitudes.

On Monday, a closer look at the first and second Beatitudes will start the day at 9 a.m. followed by Mass, the opportunity for confession or spiritual direction, and a holy hour.

Tuesday’s schedule, beginning at 9 a.m., features a presentation on the third, fourth and fifth Beatitudes, Mass, and a novena, while Wednesday concludes the retreat at 9 a.m. with a focus on the sixth through eighth Beatitudes and a closing Mass at 10:30 a.m. that will include the anointing of the sick.

The Servants of the Blessed Sacrament are a contemplative community that follows in the footsteps of St. Peter Julian Eymard in seeking to discover the riches of the mystery of faith, the Eucharist, and to live by it and witness to it.

No registration is necessary. For more information about the retreat, contact 207-872-7072 or servantsss22@gmail.com.
