PITTSFIELD — Olivia Varney set a school record with her 30th goal of the season as Maine Central Institute ran by Dexter 10-0 in girls soccer action Monday.
Varney finished the game with two goals and an assist for the Huskies (10-0-0) while Emma Burr led the offense with six goals. Morgan Jensen and Daphne Hands rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Abbie McCarran and Hannah Rodriguez combined to make 15 saves.
Dexter fell to 6-2-0.
FIELD HOCKEY
DIRIGO 2, OAK HILL 0: The Raiders (4-8) held back the Cougars (8-3) for two quarters and part of the third, but Dirigo broke through with a goal in each of the final two quarters to earn the victory in Wales.
Jace Brophy scored in the third for the Cougars, and Emily Wood added a goal in the fourth.
Oak Hill goalie Sierra Lane stopped 20 of the 22 shots she faced. Dirigo’s defense held the Raiders to one shot, which goalie Alivia Ellis saved.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 4, HALL-DALE 1: Olivia Mastine scored a pair of goals in the Phoenix’s (10-2) win over the Bulldogs (4-5-1) in Farmingdale.
Aubrey Kachnovich added a goal and two assists and Brooklyn Fournier scored a goal for Spruce Mountain. Mariyah Fournier had a pair of assists.
Mallory Clark and Hannah Jewett combined to stop four shots in the victory. Jade Graham had nine saves for Hall-Dale.
WINTHROP 8, TELSTAR 0: Madeline Wagner and Bella Littler each scored twice and had an assist in the Ramblers (10-2) win over the Rebels (0-9) in Bethel.
Lauryn Wood contributed a goal and an assist for Winthrop. Izzy Folson, Brynn Stubbert and Lauren Miller each scored one goal.
Goalie Lindsy Stephenson stopped 20 shots for Telstar.
BOYS SOCCER
MT. ABRAM 7, BACKFIELD 0: Killian Pillsbury netted two goals in the Roadrunners’ (8-1) win over the Bucks (2-7-1) in Salem.
Morgan Thibodeau and Jose Torres each had a goal and an assist for Mt. Abram, and Payton Mitchell, Charlie Pye and Bryce Wilcox added a goal apiece. Kaden Pillsbury had three assists.
Goalies Trey Reed and Logan Dube made a save each in the win. Gavin Charest made 21 saves for Buckfield.
GOLF
The Mountain Valley Conference held its state golf qualifier on Monday at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.
The Class B/C state championships — team and individual — are Saturday at Natanis.
