As a Navy veteran and retired law enforcement officer with 49 years of service with the state of Maine and Oxford County, I’m voting to reelect Gov. Janet Mills on Nov. 8. She has consistently stood with law enforcement as a district attorney, state legislator, attorney general and governor.

Mills is the only governor to fully fund our schools at 55%. She fully funded municipal revenue sharing, reducing Maine’s reliance on property taxes. She strengthened all Mainers’ retirement security by exempting the first $25,000 of retirement income from state income tax in 2023; that exemption increases to $30,000 in 2024 and $35,000 in 2025. She also made retirement-security improvements benefiting participants in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS).

In contrast, LePage underfunded schools, cut municipal revenue sharing and cut the pensions of MainePERS retirees. We can’t go back to LePage. Join me in reelecting Gov. Mills.
