SKOWHEGAN — A 29-year-old woman has been given a five-year prison sentence for having unlawful sexual contact with a juvenile, the Somerset County Sheriff said in a news release Friday.
Chelsea Holt of Solon was sentenced Dec. 29, 2022, in a Skowhegan courtroom of unlawful sexual contact, a Class C felony offense. Holt received a five-year prison sentence, with all but one year suspended, and she will be placed on probation for four years.
Dale Lancaster, the Somerset County Sheriff, said in the news release that the investigation against Holt began over a year ago, when a number of his deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Solon residence on Dec. 3, 2021.
The deputies learned at the time that one of the parties involved in the disturbance, Holt, had allegedly committed the crime of gross sexual assault on a juvenile.
Detective Jeremy Leal of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division was assigned to investigate this alleged sexual assault. His investigation concluded a few weeks later, as it was determined there was enough evidence to request a warrant for Holt’s arrest.
Holt was arrested on Dec. 17, 2021, and charged with gross sexual assault, a Class B felony offense, and unlawful sexual contact. She only pled to the latter charge.
As a part of Holt’s sentence, she will be placed on the state’s Sex Offender Registry for at least 25 years.
