WINTHROP — Winthrop trailed by one point after one quarter then started to pull away in the second en route to a 55-31 victory over Dirigo in girls basketball action Saturday.
The Ramblers (9-4), after trailing 9-8, outscored Dirigo 17-7 in the second, 13-9 in the third and 17-6 in the fourth. Morgan Fichthorn paced the Ramblers with 15 points. Madeline Wagner went 9 for 13 at the free throw line and finished with 13 points, and Bella Littler hit three 3-pointers and scored 11.
Grace Robbins topped the Cougars (4-10) with 14 points, highlighted by four 3-pointers, and Jayce Brophy contributed 11 points.
GARDINER 74, MT. BLUE 33: Megan Gallagher had 20 points and four assists to pace the Tigers to the win in Gardiner.
Lizzy Gruber added 20 points for Gardiner (13-0) while Taylor Takatsu chipped in four points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Mt. Blue (2-10 was led by Katelyn Daggett with 10 points and Caitlin Burke with nine.
RICHMOND 55, BUCKFIELD 23: Lila Viselli scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Bobcats to the win in Buckfield.
Kara Briand added 10 points and eight rebounds for Richmond (10-3) while Izzy Stewart filled the score sheet with nine points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and five blocks.
Buckfield (2-10 was led by Addison Stevens-Belanger with seven points.
SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 43, FOREST HILLS 31: Ellie Leech recorded 20 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and six steals as the Guardians earned the win in Jackman.
Breckyn Winship added 14 points, 14 rebounds and six steals for Seacoast (5-7).
Allie Dunning led Forest Hills (7-4) with 10 points.
KENTS HILL 61, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 31: Logan McDonald delivered 22 points to pace the unbeaten Huskies in a home win.
Regina Sabirova added 13 for Kents Hill (10-0), and Rose Jenkins had nine. Sabirova and McDonald made three 3-pointers each.
Lacyce Boucher and Maisy Chase each scored six points for Mountain Valley (6-6).
BOYS BASKETBALL
FOREST HILLS 58, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 36: Braidan Welch had 19 points and 10 steals and Cooper Daigle added 14 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Tigers to the win in Jackman.
Blaine Nadeau added 12 points for Forest Hills (10-1).
Eli Cardinal scored 14 points for Seacoast (4-8).
CARRABEC 80, WISCASSET 19: Luke Carey scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Cobras to the win in North Anson.
Bobby Lindholm added 13 points for Carrabec (4-6).
Wiscasset (0-10) was led by Jevar Garricks with five points.
RICHMOND 73, BUCKFIELD 49: Wyatt Cassidy scored 30 points and had six rebounds to lead the Bobcats to the win in Buckfield.
Connor Vashon added 17 points and seven rebounds for Richmond (11-2) while Hunter Mason had nine points and four assists.
Buckfield (2-10) was led by Ayden Jefferson with 21 points.
DIRIGO 72, WINTHROP 54: Charlie Houghton went 10-for-11 at the free-throw line and amassed 33 points to help direct the undefeated Cougars to the win in Dixfield.
Dakota Tompkins added 12 points for Dirigo (13-0).
Winthrop’s (6-7) Matt Beck scored 20 points and teammates Cole Bard and Carter Rivers added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
GIRLS HOCKEY
MT. ARARAT 3, ST. DOMINIC 1: Remy LeBel scored two goals to lead Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Lincoln/Oceanside/Boothbay (8-5) to a victory over St. Dominic/Winthrop/Monmouth (8-5) at Watson Arena in Brunswick.
Sophie Cote also scored for the Eagles.
St. Dom’s lone goal came from Emily Andrews.
