DAMARISCOTTA — Lauren Donovan, director of art sales at Elizabeth Moss Galleries, has been named juror for the next River Arts Gallery show.
Artists are invited to submit works for the winter show, “Dark & Light.” The deadline for entry is 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.
The theme expands upon River Arts’ black-and-white shows by allowing color. Submissions, open to members and nonmembers, can include all mediums and styles. Entries can include realistic as well as abstract works that represent the artist’s interpretation of “Dark & Light.”
Artists can submit one piece with a maximum size of 48 inches in any direction (including frame) or they can submit two pieces no larger than 24 inches in any direction (including frame). Notification of accepted works are scheduled to be published at riverartsme.org on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
Donovan is an artist who makes large-scale, figurative oil paintings on shaped surfaces. She has spent the last decade working for galleries in Boston, Paris, New Orleans, and now Portland, according to a news release from Alice de Mauriac at the gallery.
Donovan is director of sales at Moss Galleries, with locations in Falmouth and Portland. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Maine College of Art & Design.
