He was employed for many years at St. Johnsbury Trucking.
To know this man meant you had at least one funny, maybe even inappropriate, story to tell about your time together. He was vibrant, full of charisma and opinionated, but most of all, a true friend to those he chose to surround himself with.

His huge, beautiful smile was always genuine. To those who knew him best, however, there was always a question of, “What is Vern up to now”? He was a true comedian, sharing that talent along with his captivating singing voice before many when he would perform at the Erskine Academy Minstrel shows.

Vern is survived by his daughter, Deborah Dufault of West Gardiner and family; son, James L. Dufault of Indianapolis, Ind., and family; stepdaughter, Carrie Larrabee of South China and family; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special aunt Shirley. Vern would also want mentioned “Bobby” for all his numerous deliveries of whiskey hidden inside Pepsi bottles.

At this time, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine.
