ROME — The Travis Mills Foundation recently received a $25,000 grant from Kohl’s that will go to serving the nation’s heroes.
The foundation is a nonprofit organization started by U.S. Army Staff Sgt. (Ret.) Travis Mills, one of only five quadruple amputees from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries, according to a news release from Molly Lovell-Keely, foundation communications and marketing manager.
“This is spectacular news,” said Mills of the grant. “Sources of support like this ensure that every recalibrated veteran and members of their family get to experience the retreat at no cost to them.”
The foundation supports recalibrated veterans and their families through various programs that help them overcome physical and emotional obstacles, strengthen their families and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation.
The foundation supports these veterans through its retreat, located in the Belgrade Lakes Region. Veterans and their families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid experience in Maine where they participate in adaptive sports and bond with other veteran families.
