Ricky A. Hume

GARDINER/ROCKWOOD – Ricky A. Hume, 74, of Rockwood, passed away at Northern Light C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville on Thursday March 9, 2023, with his family by his side, after a long illness.

Ricky was born on Dec. 19, 1948, in Caribou to Russell and Bertha Hume. He grew up in Gardiner with his eight siblings and his stepfather, Armand Pelletier. He attended Gardiner schools and worked for the State of Maine Department of Transportation for 33 years. He retired in April 2005 from being a supervisor of North Augusta crew.

Ricky loved hunting and fishing with his friends and family, especially his best friends, Butch Macmaster and Wayne Diffin, and his brothers Norman and Dana Pelletier. Ricky was a lifetime member of the Gardiner Sportsman’s Club.

Ricky was predeceased by his parents Armand and Bertha Pelletier; two sisters, Sheila Jackson and Denise Pelletier, and a brother, Larry Pelletier.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlene Hume; his son, Del Hume and wife, Jillian Hume, of Rockwood; his grandson, Garrett Hume in the U.S. Navy in Virginia, and his bonus grandson, Conner Constable of Rockwood. He leaves his brothers Norman, Dana and David Pelletier, two sisters, Sandra Lambert and Brenda Owens; along with many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Ricky was a wonderful husband, father, “grampy”, and friend. And he will be missed by his faithful side kick dog, Remi. His family was his world especially his son, Del, and grandson, Garrett. We will all miss Ricky very much.
