AUGUSTA – Thomas Patrick Johnson, 63, passed away Feb. 22, 2023 at Maine Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 31, 1959, the 5th child of William and Kathleen (Hanning) Johnson.

Tom grew up in Augusta and was a graduate of Cony High School in the class of 1978. He furthered his education earning an Associate Degree from Kennebec Valley Technical College. Before becoming injured, Tom spent his working years as a carpenter for various construction companies.

Tom enjoyed tinkering on his VW’s and spending quality time with his family. Some of his favorite pastimes included boating, apple picking, and family holiday and birthday gatherings. Tom was a dependable brother and uncle; despite his physical limitations, he was the first to offer help and the last person to ask for it. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, generosity, and kind heart.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Jeffrey Johnson.

Tom is survived by his siblings, William Johnson, Kathleen Pyska and her husband Jonathan; son Jason, wife Jeannie and their son Jacob, Christopher Johnson and children Chris and Rebecca Sterling, Jim Johnson and his wife Rose, Robert “Herb” Johnson and Tracy Johnson; his long time companion, Judy Leavitt, along with her daughter, Alicia Leavitt.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Pummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where a memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring.
