Maryland scored four times in the bottom of the third inning and cruised to a 9-1 win over the University of Maine baseball team on Sunday in College Park, Maryland.

The Terrapins (8-7) completed a three-game sweep of the Black Bears (3-9).

Maine took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a home run by Colby Emmertz. Maryland loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning then scored on three hit batters and a walk.

UNION 5, COLBY 4: Anderson Jimenez hit a two-run double and Elvis Rojas a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Lions (8-3) beat the Mules (3-2) in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Clint Flippo had three hits and two RBI for Colby. Ryan Grace also had two hits, including a double.

BATES, RPI SPLIT: John Nowak and Brandon Biggane hit two-run doubles in the second inning as the Bobcats (3-3) scored seven times to beat the Engineers (5-4-1) in the second game of a doubleheader 14-5 in Troy, New York.

In the first game, the Engineers scored four runs in the first and cruised to a 15-1 win.

In the second game, Biggane was 3 for 4 with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored. Nowak was 2 for 3 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored.

SOFTBALL

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 5, ARCADIA UNIVERSITY 4: Emma Koenig hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to give the Nor’easters (1-0) at win over the Knights (0-1) in Kissimmee, Florida.

Koenig and Elise Connor each had three hits for UNE.

WESTMINSTER 6, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Alexis Yates was 3 for 4 with three runs scored as the Titans (1-0) beat the Nor’easters (1-1) in Kissimmsee, Florida.

Mackenzy Herron had two hits and Lindsay Joyal a home run for UNE.

UMAINE LOSES TWICE: The Black Bears were beaten 9-1 by New Mexico State and 12-1 by Utah Tech at Fresno, California.

Izzy Nieblas had an RBI single in the first game for the Black Bears (4-12), who scored an unearned run in the second game.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

UNE 18, AVE MARIA 11: Morgan White had seven goals and an assist as the Nor’easters (4-1) b eat the Gyrenes (3-3) at Clearwater, Florida.

Barrie Guertin added four goals. Sydney Balotin provided a pair of goals and assists and Kelsey Hartigan scored twice and had an assist.
