WATERVILLE — A Winslow woman faces charges of operating under the influence of drugs after police said she slammed her car into a pole on Main Street on Tuesday morning, flipping it over.
Rebecca Mceachern-Gorman, 29, was driving north on Main Street in a 2008 Honda Civic just before 9:55 a.m. when the crash occurred in front of Grondin’s Cleaners at the intersection with Chaplin Street, according to Waterville police Sgt. Josh Woods.
Main Street veers off slightly to the left at that intersection, he said.
“She didn’t turn with the road and went off the road to the right and hit the pole,” Woods said.
Witnesses told police the car hit the pole and then flipped over on its roof, according to Woods.
Mceachern-Gorman was arrested on charges of with operating under the influence-drugs, operating while license suspended and violation of conditions of release, he said. She was seen by Waterville Fire-Rescue workers but refused medical treatment, Woods said.
“She was brought to the police department and then she posted bail from here,” he said, adding that the bail was $500 unsecured.
Mceachern-Gorman is scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court on Tuesday, May 16, according to Woods.
Central Maine Power Co. replaced the utility pole, he said. Although power was not knocked out as a result of the crash, CMP had to turn off the power to replace the pole, he said.
Officer Blake Wilder investigated the crash, according to Woods.
