BATH — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust invites community members to attend its annual meeting and membership celebration, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St.

Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, Beginning With Habitat Climate coordinator with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will offer a presentation on wildlife, habitat, climate change, and its estuary, according to a news release from Becky Kolak with the trust.

To kick off the night, refreshments and camaraderie will be offered with a view of the Kennebec River in the museum’s Long Reach Hall. Attendees can share their thoughts on priorities for the trust’s wide-ranging work using an interactive Strategic Sticker Survey.

At 6:30 p.m. a short business meeting will be conducted, with opportunities to hear about what the trust has been up to this past year, vote to accept new board members, and learn about its efforts to conserve the lands and waters of the estuary.

Then, Michaud-LeBlanc will present the latest information on how Maine’s habitat and wildlife are responding to the effects of the changing climate and what to do to help them adapt.

She coordinates MDIFW’s efforts to plan for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. She provides technical assistance to fellow state agencies, local governments and conservation partners, with the goal of integrating climate resiliency and species vulnerabilities into strategic conservation plans.

Following Michaud-LeBlanc’s presentation, the trust will share ways the land trust is using this research to guide its efforts to protect plants, animals and habitats throughout the Kennebec Estuary and Merrymeeting Bay region.
