READFIELD — The Maranacook softball team made quick work of Traip Academy on Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 10-1 and 26-5.
In game one, Shylah Woodford was 2 for 3 with a home run for the Black Bears (7-2). Woodford also scored two runs and drove in three.
Allie LaBelle and Annabele Brann had two hits apiece, and LaBelle threw a two-hitter in the circle to earn the win.
In the nightcap, Maranacook’s Phoebe Bell had three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
Alissa Michaud scored four runs and drove in four for Maranacook, which pounded out 15 hits. LaBelle, Paige Magee and Anna Reay also had two hits, and Reay earned the win in the circle.
Julie Leyden had two hits for Traip (0-8).
EDWARD LITTLE 12, MT. BLUE 2: Tiana Avila tallied three extra-base hits, and Alexis Kelsea’s third hit drove in the game-ending run in the bottom of the sixth as the Red Eddies (4-5) rolled past the Cougars (1-8) in Auburn.
Avila hit two doubles and a home run while driving in three runs. Kelsea also collected three RBIs, including her run-scoring single that plated Erin Cowie to invoke the 10-run rule.
Leah Thibodeau added two hits as part of Edward Little’s 13-hit attack. Kassidy Lobb pitched all six innings in the circle to earn the win, scattering nine hits.
Maddie Cote had three hits for Mt. Blue, which scored in the fifth and sixth. Abby Farrington chipped in with a pair of hits.
BASEBALL
CONY 8, NOKOMIS 0: Kam Douin fired a one-hit shutout as the Rams (7-1) won easily in Augusta.
Douin struck out 10 batters and walked five. At the plate, he walked twice and scored a run. Teammates Parker Morin, Trenton Hayward, Jordan Benedict and Matt Boston each had a hit and a run.
Aaron Mooers had the lone hit for Nokomis (4-5). Ashton Howell allowed four hits and seven runs, four earned, over four innings, and Connor Sides pitched two innings of one-hit relief.
EDWARD LITTLE 1, MT. BLUE 0: The Red Eddies scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
Campbell Cassidy held Mt. Blue (5-4) hitless after Hayden Dippner led off the game with a single. Cassidy walked one and struck out eight.
Edward Little’s (4-5) Nolan Leso was also working on a shutout, with six strikeouts and no walks, until the seventh. Drew Smith led off the bottom of the seventh with a triple, then Kade Masselli drove him home with a one-out squeeze bunt.
Masselli finished with two hits.
OCEANSIDE 6, WINSLOW 2: Gavin Ripley struck out 11 batters as the Mariners (5-2) earned the win in Winslow.
Ripley walked one batter and allowed four hits in a complete-game effort.
Alex Bartlett had three hits for Oceanside, while Taygen McAllister added hits and Brann Vaughn hit a double.
Tyler Meadow had two hits for Winslow (0-8), and Brady Willette doubled. Izaiah Costigan threw a complete game, striking out two and walking one.
BOYS LACROSSE
LEWISTON 15, GARDINER 4: Kyle Graves factored in nine of the Blue Devils’ goals as they won in Gardiner.
Graves scored five goals and assisted on four others for Lewiston (5-4). Cody Dionne completed a hat trick and added an assist, Eli Bigelow notched two goals and an assist, and Aiden St. George dished out two assists to go along with a goal of his own. Liam Hutchinson, Jackson Bement, Colton Daniels and Daven Langelier all pitched in with a goal, and Bement also provided an assist.
Brock Rancourt made nine saves for Lewiston, while Logan Crowley stopped five shots for Gardiner.
Nathanael Luiz scored two goals for the Tigers (4-5), and Cole Brann and Logan Cote each scored one.
