PITTSFIELD — Mia Coots struck out nine and allowed just three hits Wednesday as the Nokomis softball team capped off an unblemished regular season with a 9-0 victory over Maine Central Institute.
Hope Brooks and Camryn King each had two hits for the Warriors (16-0). Brooks also stole three bases.
Chi Chi Rivera led MCI (10-6) with two hits.
WINSLOW 12, WATERVILLE 2 (5 INNINGS): The Black Raiders claimed their fourth victory in five games with a mercy-rule win in Winslow.
Emma Michaud tossed a one-hitter for Winslow (7-9) and had a double and a single at the plate. Nevaeh Duplessie added two singles and two RBIs for the Black Raiders.
Savannah Cormier took the loss for Waterville (0-16).
BASEBALL
WATERVILLE 9, WINSLOW 4: The Purple Panthers plated five runs in the first inning and never looked back to win in Winslow.
Gage Hubbard earned the win for Waterville (9-7) in a game that saw five different Panthers take the mound. Wyatt Gradie hit a double for the visitors in the win.
David Doughty (double, single) and Andrew Poulin (two singles) had a pair of hits each for Winslow (0-16).
