Steve Masse, Town Fair Tire regional manager for Maine, recently presented four Town Fair Tire Foundation Toolships to students at Capital Area Technical Center.
Each one of the $500 toolships went to graduating seniors entering the workforce to allow them to purchase tools and equipment necessary to begin their careers, according to a news release from Stephanie Turgeon, Student Services coordinator at the Augusta center.
Aiden Fleck of China will graduate from Cony High School. He is enrolled for the second year in the building construction program. During building construction, Fleck showed interest in a guest speaker from Jacob’s Glass. Fleck was interested in what the owner and his employee had to say, and completed an extended learning opportunity at business.
Fleck and the owner felt that Jacob’s Glass was a good fit, and he has been offered a full-time job after graduation. He said the extra money would help get him transportation he needs to get to work every day.
Hayley McGrath of Farmingdale will graduate from Hall-Dale High School. She is enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician program. Last year she completed the Firefighting program. She is excited to obtain employment as a full-time firefighter, and this toolship will help her with specialized gear necessary for the job.
Shyann Miller of Richmond will graduate from Richmond High School. She is enrolled for the second year in the Culinary Arts program. She is going into the summer with a job at an ice cream shop, with dreams of opening her own bakery. This extra money will help her reach her goals.
Andrew Warhol of Sidney will graduate from Cony High School. He is enrolled in the Law Enforcement Academy program for the second year. He works at Charlie’s Motor Mall and is pursuing a career as an auto technician.
Warhol is interested becoming a master technician. This toolship will allow him to purchase tools necessary to obtain all ASE certifications.
