COLLEGES

Basketball fans in southern Maine will get a chance to see Gorham native and Indiana University star Mackenzie Holmes in person this fall.

Holmes, a first-team all-American last season, will play 10 miles from her hometown, as the Hoosiers revealed Friday that they will play the University of Maine at Portland’s Cross Insurance Arena on Nov. 30.

Holmes is entering her final season at Indiana and has become one of the top college players in the country. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 22.3 points per game last season to rank seventh in the nation, and also averaged 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. Her field-goal percentage of 68% was second-best in the country, and she led Indiana to a 28-4 record and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

In the fourth minute of added time, he sent a left-footed shot over a wall of four Cruz Azul defenders and into the upper left corner of the net – unquestionably the greatest moment in Inter Miami’s brief history. Play resumed for roughly a minute before the referee’s final whistle blew.
