EMBDEN — An Embden man was seriously injured when his car traveled off Dunbar Hill Road and struck a utility pole and trees, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Brendan Manning, 34, was traveling north on the road just before noon Thursday when he lost control of his 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier and veered off the road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Manning was alone in the car and was not wearing a seat belt, sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell said in the release. Manning was flown by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he was listed Friday in stable condition in the intensive care unit, Mitchell said.
The wreck remains under investigation but Mitchell said excessive speed may have been a factor.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Anson and Madison fire departments as well as emergency medical services from Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan and the Upper Kennebec Ambulance Service.
