The Augusta Elks Lodge #964 Third annual Festival of Trees to be held Tuesday through Saturday, Dec. 5-9, at the lodge at 397 Civic Center Drive. Hours are from 3-7 p.m. Dec. 5-7, noon-7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 9.
The festival will include more than 40-themed trees to be raffled, including a lottery ticket tree. There is a tree for everyone with themes such as Outdoor Entertaining, Home Essentials, Home Improvement, Santa’s Workshop for Children, Tween and Teen, Yellow Stone, Dog Days of Christmas Pet, etc., according to a news release from Lorana Laliberte with the Elks.
The cost is $2 admission paid at the door.
The cost for the raffle is $5 for 10 tickets. One can buy as many chances as they like. An ATM is on site.
Santa will be there from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 7 and from noon to 2 and 3-5 p.m. Dec. 9.
The Girls Scouts of Maine are sponsoring an activity table for those in grades K-5 from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 7.
Free face painting will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 9
Live music by Patrick Shepard from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9.
The event will include daily 50/50 raffles, bake sale, hot dogs and popcorn to purchase and a Hot Cocoa Bar.
A portion of this year’s proceeds will go to support the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program. KVCAP is a nonprofit program which has been providing services to the people of Kennebec and Somerset counties since 1965. The program offers a variety of services geared towards helping its clients achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Each year, thousands of residents’ access KVCAP services to assist them in their struggle to overcome the barriers of poverty. Many of KVCAP’s services are available to people of all income levels.
Services and support provided by KVCAP include: Home Ownership Education, Home Repair & Weatherization Services, Heating Assistance, Transportation Services, A Teen Center, Home Visitation for New Parents, Parenting Classes, Childcare & Preschool Services and Head Start and Early Head Start.
