AUGUSTA – Richard A. Barrows, 75, a lifelong resident of the Middle Road, Augusta, died Nov. 1, 2023 at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Augusta, on July 22, 1948, the son of William E. Barrows Sr. and Eula Florence (Stratton) Barrows.
Dick was educated in Augusta schools and was employed by the State of Maine as a highway maintenance worker for many years.
Dick was a Kora Shriner where he was a member of Kora Karts Unit, and Bethlehem Masonic Lodge of Augusta.
Dick was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, William Barrows, Jr., Ralph Barrows, and Paul Barrows.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Theresa (Duplessis) Barrows of Augusta; one son, Richard A. “Rick” Barrows II and partner Rebecca Kennedy of Chelsea, two daughters, Jean Gotreau and husband Kenneth of Sidney and Lisa Bolduc and husband Luke of Augusta; a brother, Kenneth Barrows of Augusta; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, four step great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per his request, there are no visiting hours scheduled. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 14, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Committal prayers will follow at the Columbarium in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.
