The Chelsea Foodbank, located inside the Chelsea Grange at 237 Togus Road, is set to hold a bike raffle to benefit the foodbank.
To purchase tickets, people can stop by Chelsea Thrift and Gift at 247 Togus Road between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, contact the foodbank or make arrangements to meet with a foodbank volunteer.
Tickets costs $1 each or six for $5.
Those who prefer to donate directly can drop off bottles and cans in the foodbank’s bottle donation container, as well as nonperishable food items, personal hygiene items, or monetary donations.
The drawing will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 20.
As cold weather approaches and food prices keep rising, the Chelsea Foodbank is feeding on average more than 80-100 local families weekly. These families are not only from Chelsea but other surrounding towns, according to a news release from Lisa Webb-Kalloch with the foodbank.
The foodbank is open weekly from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Everyone is welcome; nobody who is hungry is ever turned away. The foodbank will open its doors at other times to emergency situations as well.
For more information, call Jeremy Kalloch at 207-660-7584 or Webb-Kalloch at 207-660-7583.
