When I was 15 in high school it was the end of my freshman year when COVID started. When they switched us to online classes it was a really big struggle for me because I never woke up on time and it was hard to learn anything over a computer screen. I ended up just barely reaching the minimum GPA to pass my classes.
About halfway through my sophomore year I made a plan with the teachers to graduate early in my junior year. The school raised the credit requirement from 20 to 24 and I was not able to finish. So, after some thought and some family troubles I made the decision to drop out, get a job, and go through adult ed.
In the fall of that same year, I registered at the Waterville Adult Ed program (MMRACE). It offered high school diploma courses, the option for HiSET, and it did not involve far travel.
MMRACE is an amazing program with great staff that will work with you to help you as much as they can no matter what your circumstances are. I have taken so many classes that give me opportunities for different jobs, along with different skills like bank teller training, criminal justice, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, along with required courses like English and math. I am incredibly grateful to the staff and the time I have spent earning my high school diploma.
I simply wanted to take the time to share my experience in an Adult Ed program to hopefully inspire others to make that phone call. If you are considering taking this step, the new semester starts in January and registration begins in the new year.
