The Wayne Select Board is seeking Wayne residents to serve on three new town advisory committees.
Depending on the number of people who volunteer, and their qualifications and experience, the Select Board may have to choose between applicants for committee membership. All residents’ input and ideas are welcome. A member of the Select Board will convene and chair each committee, according to a news release from Lloyd Irland, Select Board member.
The committees are:
1. A roads advisory committee, which will advise the Select Board on priorities and methods for maintaining roads in town while keeping tax burdens in mind.
2. An administrative ordinance advisory committee, which will review nearby towns’ administrative ordinances and advise the Select Board on how we could create a similar ordinance to clarify the structure and functioning of the town government. The town invites representatives from the Fire Department, Planning and Appeal Board, and town committees, as well as interested citizens, to work on this effort.
3. A hiring and interviewing advisory committee, which will:
A. Review the Wayne Comprehensive Plan and the results of Wayne’s Town Government Priorities survey results. Based on that review and other information, the committee will advise the Select Board on which kinds of experience and skills are most needed as Wayne moves toward hiring a new town manager;
B. Advise the Select Board about advertising and about interviewing practices for the town manager position. Help the board craft interview questions and work sample exercises; and
C. Assist the board in screening and interviewing candidates for the town manager position.
Wayne residents are invited to take the Town Government Priorities survey at waynemaine.org. Paper surveys are available at the Aging At Home center, the library, both stores, and the Town Office, and can be returned to the Town Office.
