Join U.S. Army SSG (Ret.) Travis Mills, Founder and President of the Travis Mills Foundation, for a signing of his new book, “Bounce Back: 12 Warrior Principles to Reclaim & Recalibrate Your Life,” at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at Barnes and Noble, 9 Marketplace Drive, Augusta.
“Bounce Back” is Mills’ second book. “Tough As They Come” was published in 2016 and not only tells the story of when Mills lost his limbs in an IED explosion during his third tour of Afghanistan, but how the power of family and a positive attitude carried him through his recovery journey to becoming a veteran advocate, motivational speaker, businessman and philanthropist.
The new book includes a foreword by good friend and fellow soldier Jocko Willink, retired U.S. Navy Seal officer.
“This book is a master class in recovery, renewal and recalibration,” Willink writes. Travis is not held back by challenges he faces — he is propelled forward by them. Let’s be more like Travis.”
In “Bounce Back,” Mills offers a glimpse into the incredible mindset he adopted when faced with the choice of moving forward in the face of inconceivable trauma. He outlines “12 Warrior Principles” and how these practices can be applied to various traumatic experiences — war, illness, death, divorce and more — telling stories of adversity in the lives of everyday people Mills knows personally.
“We all have those moments, the ones where we are set adrift by a life-changing event,” Mills writes in the book. “Yet we often lack the ability to parse these moments, understand how to respond and move beyond them.”
