FARMINGDALE — A late-night fire damaged a Winter Drive mobile home but firefighters from multiple towns were able to stop the flames before they consumed the home or spread to others nearby.

No one was in the 14 Winter Drive mobile home where the fire took place, and no injuries were reported in extinguishing the fire.

The home was unoccupied, though it had been lived in by a tenant who recently left, according to Farmingdale Assistant Fire Chief Michael LaPlante.

An investigator with the Office of the State Fire Marshal was at the scene Sunday in an effort to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters from Farmingdale, Pittston, Gardiner, Randolph and West Gardiner responded to fight the fire, which was reported at 12:23 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters were able to enter the home, knock down the flames in the interior and search for any potential victims in less than 45 minutes, officials said, determining that there was no one inside.

“Nobody got hurt, and it was a good stop (of the flames) on the mobile home,” LaPlante said.

Firefighters had to haul water to the site, as there are no hydrants in that part of town.

LaPlante did not have the name of the tenant or owner of the property immediately available Sunday.

Town property tax records indicate 14 Winter Drive is owned by Daniel Mansir.

The fire was reported by a neighbor.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 3 a.m. Sunday.
