The Monmouth Lions Club Speak-Out 2019 was held March 11 at the United Church of Monmouth’s Packard Activity Center in Monmouth, according to a news release from Guy Piper, Speak-Out Committee chairman.
The winners, all Monmouth Academy students, were Rhayna Poulin, who placed first with her speech, “Youth Literacy in Developing Nation.” She received $100 and a trophy.
Kaitlin Hunt, placed second with her speech, “The Complications Andrew Faced.” He received $75 and a trophy.
Ed Zuis placed third with his speech, “The Magic of Magic.” He received $50 and a trophy.
The judges were Lions Katie Cloutier, Rob Cyr and Douglas Grant.
After each speech, contestants were asked questions by Lions Christina Ramsdell and Curtis Lunt. The speeches were evaluated in three categories: Delivery of speech, material and response to questions.
