Recently, the Tax Foundation moved the state of Maine from 37th to 30th in its State Business Tax Climate Index, the largest jump of any state in the country, and a positive indication that Maine’s business climate is finally improving.
Most of the credit should go to Gov. Paul LePage and those legislators who worked diligently trying to create a favorable environment in which small businesses can grow and provide good job opportunities for Maine people.
Some of the local representatives with whom I have corresponded and who have played significant roles in this improvement are Republican Sen. Tom Martin of Benton, District 25; Republican Rep. Sue Morissette of Winslow, District 54, and Republican Rep. Karen Foster of Vassalboro, District 58.
It isn’t by accident that Maine people now have a more viable future.
It’s because we’ve had people like these in Augusta. They all strongly merit re-election.
