PORTLAND — Portland Police have identified the body of a man found Sunday in a grassy area of Congress and Douglas streets as 47-year-old Mitchell Abadie, a transient who is thought to have been in the Portland area for several months.

An autopsy conducted today by the State Medical Examiner determined Abadie died of natural causes, according to city spokeswoman Nicole Clegg. 

Abadie’s body was found at 9 a.m. Sunday in an area where people who are homeless often camp.

Abadie, who was originally from Los Angeles, was arrested on June 19 on a charge of criminal mischief, police said. He was released the following day.
