PORTLAND — The fictional Maine seaside community Cabot Cove from “Murder, She Wrote” is the TV crime capital of the world.
Britain’s Telegraph newspaper says researchers from Open University working for a BBC mathematics program found that there were 21 murder victims each year on the show.
With a population of 3,500, that adds up to a shocking murder rate of 1,490 per million.
That makes Cabot Cove more deadly than Honduras — the real-life murder capital of the world.
Cabot Cove is an idyllic Maine village that exists only on TV. It is the home of Jessica Fletcher, an author and amateur crime sleuth played by Angela Lansbury.
