Not sure we should be politically concerned about how hard Ann Romney worked at home raising children but I will add I was lucky enough 60 years ago to be a stay at home mom of five children. It goes without saying that moms like she and I worked hard cleaning house, cooking, disciplining and all that goes with the care of children.

However, on the whole, we didn’t have to worry about losing our jobs, being fired, traveling out of town away from home, competing with others in stressful situations — not that we didn’t have stressful situations. Often when we didn’t feel good we could put the little ones in a playpen and lie down for a few minutes or we could go for walks with other moms, visit playgrounds, play music and most of all enjoy their wonderful developments… some of which working moms sadly miss.

Today’s working moms have all these problems — plus very tough day care concerns.

I really admire moms today — working at home and out of the home. But I wonder how much help did a wealthy Mrs. Romney have cleaning her house, baby-sitters, vacations, etc. Does she really understand the problems of today’s working moms? Much more important, does her husband understand? I doubt it, because of President Barack Obama programs that Mitt Romney opposes. But that’s another 300 words.

I’m actually more concerned about global warming and the future of our North Woods than about Mrs. Romney’s hard work.
