An article in the Morning Sentinel on April 26 reports Mayor Karen Heck would like to add another police officer and a new cruiser.

Some facts in this article do not make sense. Police Chief Joseph Massey said any given shift can have as many as four officers and a sergeant or as few as two officers and a sergeant.

I drove by the station Saturday afternoon and there were seven cruisers by the station and another two in the Head of Falls lot. Nine cars for a shift of five — seems like we should sell a few rather than buy another. There are always several cruisers at the station.

I believe adding another officer on foot, walking the beat, would be a better idea for crime prevention than another cruiser.
