WINTHROP—Two people were taken to the hospital from a crash on U.S. Route 202 Friday.

Winthrop Police Officer Paul Ferland, who withheld the names of those involved in the crash until the investigation is complete, said none of the injuries was believed to be life threatening.

The crash occurred less than 24 hours after a three-car pileup on Route 202 that injured eight people.
Ferland said Friday’s crash occurred near the Horse Shoe Road intersection when one of the vehicles turned from the break down lane into the path of a west-bound vehicle.

Ferland said the two people taken to the hospital were riding in the same vehicle.

The west-bound lane of Route 202 was closed for about 45 minutes, Ferland said.

Maine State Police and Winthrop Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the crash.

Eight people were taken to the hospital Thursday when three cars collided near the Alden Road intersection, which is a few miles east of Horse Shoe Road. One of those injured was a toddler, police said. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
